ScenePilot AI — The Vision Agent That Knows When to Look Again

💡 Inspiration

Traditional computer vision systems often follow fixed steps, even when an image is blurry, obstructed, or uncertain. We wanted to build a smarter vision agent that can recognize when it needs more visual evidence and decide what to do next.

🔍 What It Does

ScenePilot AI is an adaptive computer vision agent that uses a webcam to observe a scene, detect visual changes, investigate suspicious regions, and verify whether an issue has been resolved. When the available evidence is unclear, it can request another capture or ask for human input instead of making an unreliable decision.

🛠️ How We Built It

The project combines Python and OpenCV 5 for image analysis, reference-image comparison, visual change detection, and region-of-interest inspection. An agent controller uses these results to select the next action. AWS services support cloud storage of evidence and session logs.

🚧 Challenges We Faced

One of the main challenges is distinguishing meaningful changes from lighting variations, camera movement, and temporary obstructions. Designing an adaptive decision loop also requires clear action limits, reliable verification, and appropriate handling of uncertain results.

📚 What We Learned

This project explores how computer vision can become more adaptive when visual evidence influences subsequent actions. We learned the importance of combining image processing, decision-making, verification, and cloud integration to build a more reliable AI application.

🌍 Impact

ScenePilot AI aims to make visual inspection more intelligent and transparent. Its approach could support applications in workspace monitoring, quality inspection, inventory verification, and other environments where detecting and confirming visual changes matters.

🚀 What's Next

Future improvements include more robust object tracking, additional vision tools, better performance under changing lighting conditions, and a dashboard for evaluating the agent's decisions and accuracy.
