Inspiration

I’ve always loved quoting lines from films and TV shows with friends. Some quotes are so iconic they become part of everyday language—but what if we turned that into a challenge? SceneGap was born from that idea: a fast-paced, culture-loving game that lets you relive iconic movie moments by testing your memory and speed.

What it does

SceneGap presents players with a famous quote missing one key word. Your mission: fill in the blank as fast as you can. Correct answers earn points based on speed and accuracy. The game includes:

Famous movie/TV quotes Real-time scoring system Global leaderboard (via Supabase) Responsive UI optimized for mobile and desktop

How we built it

I use ChatGPT to help me to transform the idea that I had to a powerful prompt. The app was built completely in Bolt but there were a couple of tweaks I have made with Cursor. We integrated Supabase as the backend to store and retrieve scores for a global leaderboard. All UI logic is contained in a single screen, using reusable components and conditional rendering.

Challenges we ran into

Compressing all logic into one prompt without breaking the flow Building a real-time leaderboard with Supabase while staying in Bolt’s environment Designing a minimalist UI that still felt cinematic and playful by prompt

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built the full game logic, scoring system, and UI with one single prompt Created a real-time global scoreboard using Supabase Crafted an experience that balances fun, speed, and nostalgia

What we learned

How to design a game loop and scoring logic inside a limited-code environment The power of clarity in prompts—every word counts in a one-shot build

What's next for SceneGap

Add sound effects and quote voiceovers 🎙️ Include difficulty levels and streaks 🔥 Let users submit their own quotes to challenge others 📩 Weekly themed challenges (Sci-Fi Week, 90s Week, etc.) 🗓️
