Inspiration
Who doesn't love a good scary story? Halloween is coming up soon so our team thought we should do something related to it. With some inspiration from Wild West horror stories(check them out here: https://listverse.com/2017/02/25/10-horrifying-stories-of-life-in-the-wild-west/), we decided to create an interactive website that allows users to guess what happens next in the story. After all, who doesn't love suspense? Just don't blame us for nightmares ;)
What it does
Once the user comes to our website, they will be taken to the homepage where they can start their horror story journey. They will get to choose a story and will get to answer questions based on the story; they will try to guess what happens next. If they get it right, they will continue to the next questions. If not, they can try again or try a different story.
How we built it
- HTML/CSS: frontend
- Canva: design
- Replit: hosting
Challenges we ran into
- We were located in different timezones within the US which made it a bit hard to find a time to meet that works for us all
- Some of our teammates were complete beginners, so we had to help them along the way
- We were running out of time and were quickly trying to finish everything at once. We wanted to add more features but we didn't have enough time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Completing the project within given time frame
- Creating a aesthetically beautiful website that adheres to the them
- Collaborating with other developers
What we learned
- Efficient time management
- Using HTML/CSS for building an interactive website
What's next for ScaryTales
- Adding more scary stories, of course!
- Implementing a proper backend so users can create an account
- Using a points system, which will encourage the user to answer questions correctly
