Our inspiration for eCOVID19

Hacking the Covid19 epidemic in individual states efficiently and, at the same time, restoring the usual private, social and professional life as quickly as possible requires extraordinary political measures and short-term personal restrictions for all of us in every European country, but above all it is needed in the fight against the life-threatening virus the provision and application of the latest medical and digital technologies. In contrast to are covering and random big data generating solutions, our solution is aiming on to generate individual and local SMART DATA by maximum digital empowerment of individual people and groups who are most under risk. Our developed solution is Scarletred® eCOVID19, a CE certified medical device software platform which is already in use in Austria in elderly care homes.

What it does

Our medical device certified platform is ideal for managing several current and acute challenges in the health care system in response to global infectious disease outbreaks as well as remote and home based patient care of elderly people. The use of a comprehensive and infrastructure-independent telemedical technology, such as the "Scarletred® eCOVID19 system", aims at a short-term maximum "digital empowerment" of the healthcare system, with the aim of detecting sick people as quickly as possible and isolating them if necessary to isolate one to enable the epidemic to spread further and to ensure that the person himself and the medical sovereign behind it adhere to corresponding standardised processes. The basic core component of the CE Class I medical product system "eCOVID19" is a mobile app and an easy-to-understand traffic light system (red, yellow, green) based on an initially anonymously assigned Scarletred QR code which is linked to a web application. The color of the code can change from white (inactive) to the respective signal color as soon as a first check has been completed using the integrated eCOVID19 questionnaire. Green (no risk), yellow (risk group 1), red (risk group 2). After a confirmed diagnosis (feedback), the QR code could change to BLUE. The color is dynamic and falls back to green after quarantine. "Are you green today?"

How we built it

We re-used already existing and CE certified medical device components from the SCARLETRED® Vision backbone and added novel and essential key features such as e-questionnaire, e-health ticket and audio/video streaming services for efficient medical expert matchmaking and tele-consultation, to name the most important elements.

Challenges we ran into

Reach key decision makers in the health care market during COVID19 shut down to enable quick piloting applications. Our solution was to go with private health care organisations first, which finally worked out and allowed role out of the application first in elderly homes and now on other important health care areas as well. Another challenge was getting the App in the store, because a lot of companies filed new Apps in theses days.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We developed a novel medical device solution in an incredible speed and even carried out an audit of our ISO13485 certified quality management system during the time of a nation wide shut down in Austria. Our team SCARLETRED is simply fantastic!

What I learned

Just do it and run for a joint big aim while the whole world stops... work maximum agile and adjust strategy and plans every day, then all is possible!
