Inspiration

We got inspired by the atmosphere of the hackathon to improve our skill set.

What it does

We have devised an innovative approach for the customers to be able to scan a barcode from any product using thier mobile or web cam and be able to know the details of the product and capture the various prices fro that commodity on various websites selling it online.

How we built it

We have combined development of Android Application along with a python application wherein the barcode can be scanned from the android camera and webcam connected to the PC. The barcode after decoding is sent to our program that will search for the details of the commodity using various APIs. Once we get the details of the product, we send the name of the product to our another part of project that will gather the prices of that commodity available on various websites.

Challenges we ran into

Capturing and parsing the data from real time camera feed on android camera and web cam was quite challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to integrate the barcode scanning along with the web crawler application as well as an android application. The purpose of integrating the webcam and android camera to capture the data was successfully accomplished.
