Inspiration

We have both found that taking care of our skin is an integral part of our day and wanted to create a site where other individuals can start taking care of their skin with quality products that won’t break the bank.

What it does

On our website, we created a quiz for people to input their skin goals, skin type, and budget. Based on these results, we curate a starter list for them. In addition, we have a page where we added some positive affirmations to encourage our viewers and make a positive impact on their day.

How we built it

We brainstormed the most important aspects we wanted to highlight on our website. We wireframed and drew out our desired end product. We thought about what we wanted to ask our viewers, and then started researching skincare products based on what their answers might be. We then started coding, testing and debugging.

Challenges we ran into

Creating all of the skincare regimens for different price points, goals, and skin types was difficult due to the amount of products we had to find. We couldn’t figure out how to store user answers and produce the right routine. Because we are very new to JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, we had to learn a lot of the syntax while we were coding. In addition, the design portion in CSS was very tedious and time consuming.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of ourselves for figuring out how to store user input and produce the correct skincare regimen. Seeing our skincare quiz work was very rewarding! We learned a lot about the difficulties that come with web design but we also learned that using our resources and encouraging each other is crucial.

What we learned

We learned how to use JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. We also learned about design thinking, creating a solid plan, and being flexible in our plan.

What's next for Scan Your Skin

We would love for people to be able to create accounts so they can revisit their results and update changes in their life that could change their skin care regimen. In addition, we would like to add more options for skin type, goals, and budgets to be more inclusive of people of all different backgrounds- we want self care to be accessible for everyone! We would also like to have other pages where users can be part of a community where people write about their experiences with products and their skincare journey.
