ScamShield was inspired by the growing number of voice scams where callers pretend to be trusted people using fake or cloned numbers. We built a mobile app using React Native and Firebase that checks phone numbers against scam databases and assigns a trust score to help users identify suspicious calls. We explored XION’s SDK to add verifiable proof for each result. Along the way, we learned how to handle real-time data checks, design user-friendly alerts, and balance accuracy with speed. Our biggest challenge was sourcing reliable scam data and minimizing false positives.
