Inspiration

Nowadays, many people receive fake messages, phishing links, fraudulent UPI requests, fake KYC alerts, and scam calls. Many people, especially senior citizens and people who are not comfortable with English, find it difficult to identify these scams.

We were inspired to develop ScamShield AI to help people recognize cyber fraud before they become victims. We wanted to build a simple and intelligent solution that makes digital transactions safer for everyone, with special support for Kannada-speaking users.

What it does

ScamShield AI is an AI-powered, multilingual cyber fraud detection and prevention system.

It allows users to check suspicious messages, links, screenshots, UPI payment requests, and voice messages.

Its main features include:

Context-Aware Scam Detection: Analyzes messages and conversations to identify suspicious patterns and possible scam intentions.

Scam Conversation Simulation: Demonstrates how a scam conversation might continue and explains how users can respond safely.

Scam Awareness Assessment: Helps users understand common scam patterns through personalized awareness exercises.

Scam Relationship Detection: Identifies connections between suspicious phone numbers, links, and reported scam information.

Pre-Transaction Safety Assistant: Analyzes payment requests and provides warnings before users proceed.

Kannada Voice Scam Detection: Supports Kannada voice input and provides safety guidance in simple Kannada and English.

How we built it

We are developing ScamShield AI using AI-based technologies and programming tools.

Our planned development approach includes:

User Input: Accept suspicious messages, URLs, screenshots, and supported voice recordings.

Text Processing: Use Natural Language Processing (NLP) to understand message content and identify suspicious words and patterns.

AI Analysis: Analyze the context and identify possible phishing attempts, fake KYC requests, and fraudulent payment messages.

Risk Scoring: Assign a Low, Medium, or High risk level based on detected indicators.

Explanation and Guidance: Explain why a message appears suspicious and provide safety recommendations in English and Kannada.

User Protection: Display warnings and suggestions to help users make safer decisions.

Challenges we ran into

Through this project, we are learning about artificial intelligence, Natural Language Processing, cybersecurity, phishing detection, and multilingual technologies.

We also learned the importance of teamwork, problem-solving, research, and building technology that addresses real-world problems.

What's next for ScamShield AI

In the future, we aim to improve ScamShield AI by:
