Inspiration

I noticed how many teens and everyday users fall victim to online scams, phishing, and fake messages. Most existing tools felt either too technical or confusing, so I wanted to create something interactive, visually appealing, and easy to use, that empowers users to stay safe online.

What it does

ScamSentinel Gemini analyzes suspicious messages, emails, or links in real-time. It detects the risk level (Low, Medium, High), highlights red flags, explains manipulation techniques, and provides a safer rewritten version of the message. It even offers follow-up suggestions, making online safety both actionable and understandable.

How we built it

The app is a web-based interface built with HTML, CSS (Tailwind), and JavaScript. Gemini 3 AI is used to analyze messages via a carefully crafted system prompt. The interface allows multiple analyses, shows results in a visually clear “glassmorphism” style, and is planned to support English, French, and Amharic.

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a responsive UI that stays clear after multiple analyses.
  • Incorporating multilingual support while keeping AI prompts understandable.
