ScamLens is a privacy-first Chrome extension that helps people recognize phishing, scam, impersonation, and credential-harvesting pages before they trust them.
The problem is simple: many scam pages look convincing enough that users cannot tell whether a link or login page is legitimate. Traditional security warnings can also be too vague, too disruptive, or difficult to understand.
ScamLens takes a different approach: The Second Read.
It analyzes the current webpage using local detection signals such as lookalike domains, credential fields, login-domain mismatches, redirects, suspicious language, domain registration information, and threat intelligence. The result is translated into a clear risk level: Safe, Attention, High Risk, or Critical.
ScamLens stays quiet when nothing meaningful is detected. When stronger evidence appears, it explains what was found, why it matters, and what the user should do next.
The product combines:
Local-first threat detection Evidence-based risk assessment RDAP domain information URLhaus threat intelligence Chrome popup and Side Panel experiences In-page warnings for meaningful risk Contextual AI assistance through Ask ScamLens
AI is used as a secondary reasoning and explanation layer rather than as the sole security decision-maker. ScamLens first identifies concrete signals, then uses contextual AI to help explain those findings in plain language.
Privacy is a core part of the architecture. Sensitive information such as passwords, OTPs, PINs, payment details, cookies, session identifiers, and raw form values should not be used as AI context. The system is designed around sanitized evidence rather than sending arbitrary page contents.
ScamLens is built around the idea of Quiet Certainty: calm when the page is safe, clear when something deserves attention, and appropriately direct when the evidence is serious.
