Inspiration Inspiration

ScamGuard AI was inspired by the growing number of online scams affecting everyday people, especially in South Africa. Many users fall victim to phishing links, fake messages, and social engineering attacks because they cannot easily identify suspicious content.

What it does

ScamGuard AI is a smart cybersecurity tool that allows users to submit links or messages and receive instant feedback on whether they are safe or potentially harmful. It uses AI and rule-based detection to identify scam patterns and warn users before they take action.

How we built it

This project was built using MeDo by structuring prompts to generate the application logic, interface, and detection workflow. The focus was on creating a simple, fast, and accessible solution for users with limited cybersecurity knowledge.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was designing a system that is both accurate and easy to use. Another challenge was ensuring the solution is accessible to a wide range of users, including those with limited technical experience.

We learned how AI can be applied to real-world cybersecurity problems and how important it is to design solutions that are user-friendly and impactful

What's next for ScamGuard AI

The next step is to develop a fully functional application with real-time API integration, improved AI accuracy, and deployment as a mobile and web app accessible to a wider audience.
