Inspiration
Many people these days have encountered some sort of scam. From the fake ads to the "free items" in games we all have been tempted to visit those links. We wanted to make something that would help others recognize these scams and resist the urge.
What it does
It is like a business simulator where the user acts as the scammer. They can try and scam others, the background of these people will make them more or less gullible to the scam. For example, trying to scam Apple is not a good idea.
How we built it
We used Unity Teams to create a collab cloud project. We also used C# script to handle all of the events in the background.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge was figuring out how to pair the scripts to the actual objects and also to work with others on the cloud project. We used the power of Google and Shashank to overcome these problems.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a scrolling menu within the game and it's very satisfying to just scroll up and down repeatedly. Almost beating minecraft while still working on the project.
What we learned
How to make a website and link the website to our game. We covered almost all facets of the internet world as well as making complex GUI interactions within the app.
What's next for Scamazon
We will publish the game to the app store in order to educate everyone about these scams. We will incorporate more features and additional scams that may be relevant in today's world. We also needed to create the ability to choose different countries because each country has a different level of cybersecurity. Furthermore, we would like to balance out the game better so it doesn't take 10 clicks to either lose or win.
