Inspiration

Phishing attacks are increasing rapidly, with email phishing accounting for over 90% of cyberattacks and the phishing growing by 400% recently. Scam Slam addresses this growing risk by simplifying threat detection across multiple channels in a single platform.

What it does

Scam Slam detects phishing threats across multiple channels—scanning URLs, emails, and sms phishing to protect users from scams in real time with smart analysis and an easy-to-use interface.

How we built it

I have combined heuristic rules with machine learning models to analyze input data. The frontend is built with a clean, responsive UI that supports seamless scanning of URLs, email content, and sms phishing with the integration of flask api

Challenges we ran into

Detecting phishing in diverse formats like emails and sms phishing was complex. Balancing detection accuracy with processing speed required fine-tuning our models and algorithms.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a unified platform that supports multi-channel phishing detection with high accuracy. The app’s user-friendly interface allows quick threat verification for both tech-savvy and non-technical users.

What we learned

Deepened our understanding of phishing techniques, ML-based detection, and building intuitive UIs that simplify complex cybersecurity tasks.

What's next for Scam Slam

Integrate real-time threat updates, support for more languages, and expand detection capabilities to include Qr code and social media phishing also educating users on the further tactics one could possibely face because of phishing
