Inspiration

Trying to put to use some of the skills we as a team have learned at our internships throughout the summer

What it does

Our project links a database to a easy to use website that Say Yes students can use in order to allow students to answer questions about their current job hunting status. Once users send this data it is stored in two places. One place is a table hosted on our website that users and Say Yes employees can view whenever that can also be updated at the users will. The second place is our database that only Say Yes employees can see where they can take and analyze this data to use in any task requiring quantitative data.

How we built it

We used a combination of React for frontend with Flask and SQL being used for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was definitely trying to find out how to balance quality or quantity when it came to how much content we had to present and the biggest reason for this was the strict time limit.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I think we're most proud of getting the backend to work with the frontend while having such little time especially since some of us were working with completely new technologies.

What we learned

I think all of us are coming away with better skills than what we started with especially with familiarity the specific tech stack we ended up choosing.

What's next for Say yes to Buffalo alumni tracker

Since we choose the platform of a react webpage we can very easily update the features we host on it. One feature we would love to add is possibly a page that displays some of the employer related post by Say Yes that user can interact with in order to drive up engagement and hopefully increasing the Say Yes student to fulltime employee turnover. Another feature to add would be a page for Say Yes employees to use that would display user information, allowing them to track Say Yes alumni statistics to view their rates of employment, see what companies are hiring Say Yes people, and see the rate of people who have an interview that get hired
