Inspiration

Financial Planning is a formidable task both for college students entering into the work force and working adults wondering if they're planning is sufficient to support themselves in their later years. We wanted to harness AI to make this scary prospect into accessible financial planning. Saavy SA(I)vings aims to generate personalized steps to reach their retirement goals.

What it does

S(ai)vvy Savings is a web-based application that takes in user's personal information such as age, savings, location to generate a financial plan/steps for them to follow to be able to retire at their desired age.

How we built it

We divided the responsibilities into frontend (React) and backend (Flask) responsibilities to build a cohesive application.

Challenges we ran into

React learning curve and pairing the front end and backend

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working with unfamiliar technologies --> we set out to use ChatGPT's API and accomplished it(wohoo)! As well as didn't give up when encountered unexpected issues.

What we learned

Better understanding of pairing , parameters involved with ChatGPT's models. Integration of backend and frontend. Improved debugging skills

What's next for Savvy SA(I)vings

Further financial wellness and planning capabilities. More granular details with the planning. An avenue we wanted to explore, was pairing with a financial api such as CapitalOne API's that would return a breakdown of savings/assets and provide more granular/specific investment and financial advice.
