The brief was to "Design a world where stashing cash is the ultimate power-up". To meet this brief I decided to make a scavenging tycoon game with a savings account system that adds to your balance after every day; so the more money you put in, the more money you get.
Inspiration
Tycoon games I suppose. I wanted something simple to make that is relevant to the brief; and this is what I got.
What it does
You play with "A" and "D" to move, and "E" to interact. The aim of the game is to earn a sustainable living off your savings account through repairing and selling furniture.
How I built it
I made sprites/textures in GIMP, and did the coding in Godot. I used Arrays and Dictionaries for storing multiple related values or making profiles for items; this makes the code much more manageable.
Challenges I ran into
Staring off into space and not doing anything periodically.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Didn't sleep in 25 hours as of 08:45. I'm also glad that the game functions despite me stopping before 13:00.
What I learned
It's easy to stay awake when infront of a computer. It is very possible to make a game in under 24 hours.
What's next for SavingsCapitalist
I don't know. I don't really have any plans to develop it further.
Built With
