Saving Surge

Inspiration

As a student, I want to be able to find the best deals to save money in my local area, in real-time.

What it does

Allows for businesses to publishes their deals and offers on a map in real-time to subscribers.

How we built it

I built it using ReactJS and two APIs, the Ably API uses its publish and subscribe feature to send data to the Google Maps API to create markers with the offer details.

Challenges we ran into

Learning how to feed the data into the Google Maps API to publish and create markers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of being able to create a project using two APIs that I have never used before.

What we learned

Web sockets are very powerful and can provide real-time information.

What's next for Saving Surge

Enhance the user interface, and provide more features such as expiration date consideration.
