Inspiration
We wanted to focus on a recent trendy topic while also wanting to create an enjoyable game. We also wanted to create the game on a platform widely accessible. On Roblox, there is a genre of games called Simulators. We wanted to create a replica of this popular genre due to the immense amount of active players this genre has. We thought this would be the best way to spread a positive message.
What it does
You start out with a weak tool that can not remove garbage at competent pace. Garbage is our form of currency. You can use garbage to buy better tools that will allow you to remove garbage at a much faster rate.
How we built it
We built it using Roblox studios. It is somewhat like Unity except the language is LUA.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges were learning LUA. We all were not very familiar with Lua for we all mainly use java. This game forced us to learn tons of things such as data storage, click detection, etc. This was our first time making a project of this size. Modeling was also challenge because none of us had blender or any experience with blender.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have accomplished a project of this size in such a short amount of time. We are also proud that we can support a great charity and help make the world a better place.
What we learned
We learned the basics of Roblox Studio, it was a new environment for all of us. We also learned how to utilize pages such as the Roblox Dev Forum and API.
What's next for Saving Ocean Simulator
We are hoping to add more tools, add more islands, and advertisement so we can actually make the game popular in hopes of acquiring more donations for Team Seas.
