Inspiration
We noticed that managing money on a daily basis can be overwhelming, especially for students and young adults who are new to budgeting. Most finance apps are either too complex or lack simplicity. We wanted to create something basic yet effective to help people track their expenses and savings easily.
What it does
Savings Manager helps users record their income and expenses, set savings goals, and view their overall financial summary. It provides a clean and interactive interface that calculates totals automatically and displays useful stats to help users stay on track with their finances.
How we built it
We built this project using only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML structured the layout, CSS was used for styling and responsiveness, and JavaScript handled all the logic — like adding entries, updating totals, storing data temporarily in the browser using localStorage, and dynamically updating the UI.
Challenges we ran into
- Getting the layout to look neat and responsive on all screen sizes.
- Making sure the data entered by the user stayed even after page refresh.
- Managing the logic to calculate savings and categorize transactions without using a backend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Building a fully functional savings tracker with just frontend technologies.
- Creating a smooth user experience with clean UI and responsive design.
- Successfully implementing localStorage to keep user data saved.
What we learned
- Improved our skills in HTML, CSS, and especially JavaScript.
- Learned how to store and retrieve data using
localStorage. - Gained experience in structuring a full mini-project from scratch.
What's next for saving manager
- Adding export/download options for user data.
- Including charts or graphs for a better visual understanding of spending.
- Adding categories or filters for more detailed expense tracking.
- And also thinking of using AI tools and make it more advance and will also try to connect with our onlin etransction app so that we can use this app accordingly and more effciently.
