Inspiration

We loved the idea of using computer vision and gamifying an everyday task. With sustainability in mind, we create a progression system where users are awarded for each environmentally friendly food they eat.

What it does

Scans food items and classifies them as environmentally friendly or not.

How we built it

With React and Expo (for mobile), Node and express, Claude sonnet NLP and Gemini vision pro

Challenges we ran into

Connecting the gemini and claude sonnet API. We spent atleast 6 hours just on them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating something functional. We are first-year CEGEP students so we dont have much experience in this. Therefore creating anything with code is pretty much something to be proud of.

What's next for Save your plant

We wanted to finish the idea of the reward system, where each point awarded for environmentally friendly food makes a flower grow. We also thought about the idea of a scoreboard between other users to create a sense of competition.
