Inspiration
We were inspired by the classic retro Japanese RPG games and wanted to try and implement the same style in our first hackathon.
What it does
Save Your Mom was going to be a completed storyline RPG with the end goal of saving your own mom. You have to traverse through the forest while fighting monsters to ultimately end up at the final boss. What we currently have is just the beginning section of the game.
How we built it
We initially used the Replit software to be able to code simultaneously in Python and used Pygame. We then moved over to GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was time. Since it was our first hackathon, we did not realize the amount of time that should be spent working on the project. Both of us are also first-years and have little experience overall with programming and using GitHub.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we got to experience a hackathon for the first time and have some knowledge of how they work.
What we learned
We learned that time management and organization are the two most important things when completing a hackathon. We also became more comfortable using the Pygame syntax.
What's next for Save Your Mom
