The inspiration for this comes from the fact that the environment needs to be protected and part of protecting the environment is protecting the habitats of endangered species. Thus, saving endangered species from becoming extinct. I had a very special experience in my life as I went to the beach one night. That night, I got to see baby turtles hatch from the nest and go into the ocean. That experience and the fact that turtles are an endangered species is the reason why I choose turtles as the endangered species for the player to save in the game.

What it does

It is a one player video game that educate as well as shows just how important it is to protect endangered animals and the environment. Your goal in the game is to save the turtles by stopping the crabs. You win the game when all the turtles get safely into the ocean. The only way to lose the game is if you step on a turtle or one of the crabs get the turtle. Can you rise to the challenge and save the turtles?

How I built it

This was built using Unity and Github in the C# language.

Challenges I ran into

Challenges I ran into is outdated specks on computer so had to use a way older version of unity, having to learn how to use unity considering I have never used it before, having to learn how to code in C# since everything in unity is code based so I had to code every single thing and had no access to any assets or packages with older version so it was a lot of work. Overall, there were many many challenges and it has been like a roller coaster

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of getting the objects to move, getting the scripts (code) to work, getting to work with 3D objects and elements, and getting the things in unity to work that I was able to.

What I learned

I learned how to use unity, how to code in C# (C Sharp), how to develop games and maps, how to design AI, and how to work with multiple assets in unity through code.

What's next for Save The Turtles

To add character models, add actual assets, such as water, and more. To fully develop and finish creation of game.
