Inspiration
Deforestation is a significant issue in the world and Loudoun County alone, so we tried to spread awareness of it and help others to recognize this problem of ours. We also based our game on the Chrome Dino Run game.
What it does
When you open up our project, a game opens up. You are an axe jumping over trees. It symbolizes that we should not cut down trees. When you lose, it will open up a new page about how trees are being deforested by animals and from us. It requests a donation.
How we built it
While Tyler and Garrett were working on the game, Anish and Nandu worked on the webpage and the donating button.
Challenges we ran into
At first, we found it difficult to come up with an idea for our project. After an hour of thinking, however, we came up with this idea and thought that it was perfect. For the tree game, many bugs kept occurring and we had to keep fixing them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
At first, it seemed like we would never finish the game, but we debugged the code and found out how to make it complete. We also figured out how to make the donation, which was extremely difficult.
What we learned
We learned how to work better as a team and we got a deeper understanding of how JavaScript games act and look. We also learned more about CSS animations and how they make graphics look better or worse.
What's next for Save the Trees
If we could have more time on this project, we would add more information on the deforestation of trees and more than likely a second game related to trees. We would also make the original tree runner game more appealing to the users.
