Summer will be an opportunity for activities to get back on track. Our platform enables people to reserve their space at the beach so to limit the amount of people and guaranteeing social distancing.

THE PROBLEM OUR PROJECT SOLVES As the current pandemic caused by the new coronavirus COVID-19 is spreading all over the world, we found the urge to address a specific problem: the willingness of people to go back living a normal life. Especially now that summer is getting closer, we want to develop and implement a solution that, on one hand, will allow people to go to the beach safely and on the other, to help beach Lidos not to loose the summer profit.

THE SOLUTION WE BRING TO THE TABLE We developed this new platform called “Eu4Summer”. The aim is double: to regulate the flow of beach lidos’ customers and to guarantee the social distancing regulation in a public space required by the government. Each beach lidos are required to subscribe into the platform in order to get the access to a number of services: • Guaranty of social distancing thanks to a limited number of bookings per day - depending on the beach sizes and capabilities. • Telematic booking system of umbrellas and sun beds that guarantee an efficient turnover of clients who are allowed to book their spot either for the early morning (8.00-13.00) or the early afternoon (13.00-18.00) slot. • Customer service 24/h to manage clients’ problems and requests. This implies also an alarm sent to the clients anytime a free spot in the selected beach lido is available, as well as the possibility for the clients to report any violation of the correct use of the platform by the beach lidos. Clients can support their favourite beach lido by making a donation. • Guaranty of hygienic standards required by the government (disinfection of sun beds and umbrellas before the turnover, toilets, showers).

A prerequisite for the good function of the platform is that each beach lido has to be regularised either by a private company or by the government. This aims at guaranteeing the respect of social distancing regulations and the correct use of the beaches.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE DURING THE WEEKEND The team is comprised of 3 members. One has been in charge of the development and programming of the new platform “Eu4Summer”; and the other two have been in charge of the business and marketing development of the solution.

THE NECESSITIES IN ORDER TO CONTINUE THE PROJECT From an investment point of view, we believe that a crowdfunding would be ideal at start to launch the pilot project for the private sector. Thanks to the immediate liquidity, we will be able to provide the necessary hygienic tools and all the other supplies useful to the beach lidos. Then, we would implement the widespread of the platform with marketing strategies (Television Ads,Social Media, Sponsorship). Regarding the costs needed to develop and implement this new platform, we estimate that a consistent amount of money would be necessary to cover marketing expenses, programming and developing of the software, and all the other eventual necessities.

THE VALUE OF OUR SOLUTION AFTER THE CRISIS Our solution brings to the table several values. First of all, it will bring moral and psychological benefits to the people facing this pandemic all over Europe. Secondly, it will bring economic advantages to all the seafront Member States allowing them to make profit from one of their fundamental sectors : tourism. Our short-term objective is to provide a Pilot Service to the Private Sector of beach lidos; in the long term, instead, we see an easy application of the platform also to the public sector. In the latter case, the local government will have to finance the project while we will oversee the booking system.

MARKETING STRATEGY In order to promote the use of the platform, the EU will have to make use of Social Medias and Television ads globally. It will be of help the support of public figures such as sport, fashion and entertainment fields. The television ads will have to be promoted by the government to reassure people about the security and utility of the platform Eu4Summer. From a price point of view, each beach lidos will be allowed to set any price point it wants without any restrictions. Free and secure transactions will be guaranteed both for the customer and the beach lido.
