Inspiration

Every day around 8 million pieces of plastic makes their way into our oceans and plastic pollution is now one of the worlds greatest problems. Everyone from animals to humans is witnessing its negative impacts and it is essential to make a change before it is too late. Therefore I decided to create Save the Seas an interactive, fun, and engaging video game for children where they learn about this issue through an entertaining experience.

What it does

Save The Seas is a video game where children must collect plastic waste as quickly as possile.

How I built it

With the help of the pygame module I coded this game in python.

Challenges I ran into

Learning the documentation and understanding specific elements of the pygame library was difficult as this was my first time using it. However after trial and error over time I became much faster and now understand how to work with various features in this library.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I'm proud that I was able to complete this project within a short time frame. This is one of my very first projects and I am very glad about how it turned out.

What we learned

I learned that there are so many ways to complete the same task but some strategies will work better than others, hence it is important to keep all features in mind and try to optimize your code as best as you can.

What's next for Save The Seas

In the future I hope to add different plastic waste graphics, a timer, and the concept of more plastic being accumulated as time goes on, representing the real world
