Inspiration
Wildfire has always been a big problem for the people of California. It not only accelerates the process of global warming and contributes to the loss of millions of dollars in property, but it also affects many businesses and many homes when it spreads. After research, we found that wildfires are not just a product of natural disasters, but that a large portion of wildfires are human-caused. So we decided to use this project to increase awareness of wildfires, to inform people about how to prevent them, and how to prepare and respond when notified.
What it does
Our project is a website with four pages. The main functions are divided into two main parts. The first part serves as an information page to inform people about how to prevent wildfires and the causes for wildfires. The second part is a mini-game of the wildfire simulator and how to play it.
How we built it
We built it using react via GitHub. Multiple coding tools are used in the process.
Challenges we ran into
We had a hard time designing the site and putting everything together. There were some minor situations that came up since it was an online collaboration. But with the effort of team members, the problems were all solved as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to successfully put everything together and complete the project on time.
What we learned
We learned a lot of new skills. Some of us learned react in two days, some of us learned panda in two days, we all learned different things from our group members as we worked together.
What's next for Save the land
We'd like to keep all information updated for the website.
