Inspiration
With the pandemic, and current world events we have seen an increasingly concerning issue with the homeless population having a even greater food crisis because of the rapidly rising cost of living.
What it does
Our project helps the user prevent wasting food, and instead help share the food to a local homeless shelter if the user made too much and would like to donate.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and Javascript for the front end and the backend was created using flask and a little bit of Java Script.
Challenges we ran into
Many of our front end and backend developers did not know how Flask would mesh with Html,CSS, and Javascript because most of us utilized React for our backend, but it was a challenge that we overcame as a team. There were many challenges like how to implement our idea into reality and how to improve certain things.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we finished this proud out together as a team, and that we accomplished many things with this website within the time given and that we worked through our struggles. There were many things that we wanted to implement and we are happy that we were able to implement most of it in a timely manner.
What we learned
We all learned a lot more about the world issues that have to do with the rising cost of living with inflation and the after effects of the pandemic. There is also a lot of languages that people were unfamiliar within the group, but we all tried our best to learn and develop this project with those struggles.
What's next for Save the Food
We want to continue to help the community with this project and that we want to keep developing and improving the project!
