(IDEATHON SUBMISSION)

I have been in multiple situations in my life that have relied on emergency services and their speed. Those moments waiting for the EMS felt hopeless and incredibly still, and I had a wish to change that. By taking action in a high stress situation you have an opportunity to be useful when it is necessary and maybe even save the live of a person. I got CPR certified for these exact situations, and had a wish to be more useful. With this app I can make this possible.

The app allows for quick and easy access to instructions for a number of emergency situations. The alphabetized list includes situations as trivial as a heat cramp to as significant as a seizure. In all of these situations, a regular citizen would be able to help, or at least alleviate suffering to the victim, and this app maximizes that power. Instructions with little wording is and to find online, especially in times of stress, this is just a place to combine simple information for easier access. The app has a growing database influenced by it's users and also educates users on the "Good Samaritan laws".

As this was created for the Ideathon, the simple prototype was created using "Thunkable". A few blocks of code were placed, but it was extremely simple as it was just to show a though, not to create an actual advanced code or app. The video that the app was presented on was created using WeVideo.

The most challenging part of the project was creating a video for it. The vision in my head for the application was so clear that I had no problem creating a prototype. The video was mostly difficult because of the time limit of 2 minutes, I could have easily continued explaining deeper into the app and everything about it.

I am proud of working on this project on my lonesome. Every hackathon I have participated in, in the past, I had worked with a team. I wanted to challenge myself and feel extremely accomplished at the fact that I was able to make a working prototype and a video just by myself. I of course, feel accomplished that I am turning in a piece of work that I am proud of.

I had never used the application "Thunkable" prior to this project, so I was able to learn the mechanics behind it and create a working prototype, which I am proud of. I was also able to learn more information and statistics about the issue at hand (delayed EMS response and understaffed EMS departments), as I researched it while working on the project. I am excited to learn even more about healthcare by looking into the other projects. I also leaned more information by listening to the guest speakers, particularly David Duron, who had a past in EMS, which is what my project was focused on

I hope to find more judgement for this project, and I hope to find ways to improve it. If I do improve on it, I have plenty of connections that could hopefully get this idea to be spread around in one way or another, whether that means publishing it as an actual app or not. I would be perfectly fine just knowing that I was able to educate others on an important issue.
