Sauron

Inspiration

We as Blugolds have a deep set passion for safety in industrial settings. We knew we could put this passion front and center at HackGB, and this was our lovechild.

What it does

Sauron is a passion project designed to bring safety to the demographic that needs it the most: industrial factory workers. With widespread adoption, we could hope to see even a 30% decrease in accidents that result from inattention.

How we built it

Sauron was brought forth into this world through the concerted efforts of our incredibly skilled programmer and networking specialist, with no small part being played by the mentors provided by HackGB.

Challenges we ran into

The primary challenge was finding a large enough dataset to train our CV model on. Most of our findings came from the insurance field, with huge amounts of data being sourced from distracted driving studies.

What we learned

We learned how to bring our passion for safety to uncaptured populations, while balancing the delicate ethical and legal considerations provided by camera-powered functionality.
