Inspiration
We believe that environmental awareness is the very first step to solving global problems. The more people know about it, the higher the likelihood of effective protection of nature. That is why we have chosen this topic.
What it does
This is an application that is divided into two versions: children's and adult. In the adult version, users can donate money to an eco-fund, find out where the nearest recycling centers are, play games and earn points that they can later redeem for prizes. They can also compete with their friends and see their ranking. In the children's version, we focus on education. At the very beginning, the children get acquainted with the main character - Saule. At each level, she tells them about the problems that exist in the world and offers a fun game for the children to try to solve it. For example: games about recycling, saving electricity, etc.
How we built it
We used Figma for the app prototype and Android Studio for the back end. We also used Firebase as a database and Intellej IDEA to develop the game.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge for us is that we had no game development experience before. Therefore, we decided to first create a game prototype using Figma and Intellej IDEA, and only then use more complex technologies like Unity. In addition, we understood that the target audience for the children's version of our application is quite demanding. We needed to come up with a way to keep kids interested and make the interface user-friendly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We came up with several games at once for the children's version of the application. We learned how to create databases, applied the QR code technology in Android Studio, learned how to work with files inside the application. Well, and most importantly, we created an idea, values, a story for the main character of our application - Saule.
What's next for Saule
We want to learn how to develop games and work on all the levels in the application. Develop the ratings tab and enable the function of linking a bank card.
