Inspiration
As avid news readers, we (Team Eevee) wanted to evolve our experience with the daily activity of reading news. Due to the nature of subjective articles, there are inherent sentiments that provide a quick summary of the article. We were inspired by Algorithmia's algorithms and their numerous language processing techniques. In combination with reading news, Team Eevee are fans of great technology and we could not say no to this great opportunity.
What it does
Sentimental Analytical Smart System for News (SASS-N) is a connective interface for multiple API's. We take in news articles from the Hacker News API and send it into Algorithmia's Html2Text algorithm - which converts a URL's content into readable text. This text is then passed into Algorithmia's Sentiment Analysis and Summarizer which generate sentiment ratings and summaries.
How we built it
We built it with Angular.js, HTML5, CSS3.
Challenges we ran into
Loading times due to the heavy volume of text that we were transporting between API's.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The chaining of multiple algorithms and APIs in a seamless manner.
