SarafuPay AI Collection Agent

Inspiration

Many collection owners in Tanzania receive payments from different contributors but still struggle to understand payment status, pending mobile-money confirmations, contributor questions, and what action to take next. SarafuPay AI Collection Agent is designed to act like a smart payment support assistant for collection owners.

What it does

SarafuPay AI Collection Agent helps a collection owner monitor payment activity, identify pending or failed payment issues, summarize collection progress, and suggest the next support action. The agent can explain payment status in simple language, help prepare support replies, and guide owners on what to check when a contributor says they paid but the payment is still pending.

How we built it

The project is built as an AI support layer for a collection/payment platform. It uses a web dashboard, backend APIs, payment data, and Qwen Cloud AI models to analyze payment situations and generate useful support guidance.

Challenges we faced

The main challenge is making the AI helpful without exposing private payment data. The system must give useful support guidance while protecting contributor information such as phone numbers, emails, references, and raw payment data.

What we learned

We learned how AI agents can support real payment operations, especially in markets where mobile money is common and users need quick, clear support.

What's next

Next, we plan to improve the agent with memory, better payment issue classification, owner notifications, and safer human approval before any sensitive action is taken.
