Inspiration
Healthcare can be difficult to manage, especially for elderly people, patients with chronic illnesses, and users who are not comfortable with technology. Many existing health apps rely heavily on reading and typing, making them less accessible. We wanted to build SANJIVNI, a voice-first health monitoring platform that makes healthcare simple, personalized, and accessible in multiple Indian languages.
What it does
SANJIVNI is an AI-powered health monitoring application with an intelligent voice assistant. It helps users manage their daily health through voice interactions by: Providing voice reminders for medications (e.g., "It's 10:00 AM, time to take your medicine.") Tracking daily steps and physical activity. Monitoring mood and emotions to understand overall well-being. Tracking sleep habits and sleep quality. Supporting voice commands in multiple Indian languages for better accessibility. Recording important health information such as diabetes status, chronic diseases, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and other health metrics. Maintaining a patient health report with basic details like name and mobile number. Providing a dedicated doctor dashboard where doctors can securely view patient reports and monitor their health progress.
How we built it
We designed SANJIVNI with a voice-first approach to make healthcare easier for everyone. The application integrates: Voice assistant technology for natural interactions. Multi-language support for Indian regional languages. Health tracking modules for steps, sleep, mood, and medical records. A medication reminder system with scheduled voice notifications. A patient profile and health report management system. A doctor portal that enables healthcare professionals to access patient health reports and monitor medical conditions.
Challenges we ran into
Designing accurate voice interactions across multiple Indian languages. Organizing different types of health data into a simple and user-friendly interface. Ensuring patient information is presented clearly for both patients and doctors. Integrating multiple health tracking features into one seamless application. Creating an intuitive experience for elderly users who may have limited technical knowledge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a voice-first healthcare assistant that reduces dependence on manual interaction. Added multilingual support to improve accessibility for users across India. Combined medication reminders, health monitoring, mood tracking, and sleep tracking into a single platform. Developed a doctor dashboard that enables healthcare professionals to review patient health reports efficiently. Created a solution focused on improving healthcare accessibility for patients of all ages.
What we learned
Through building SANJIVNI, we learned the importance of accessibility in digital healthcare. We gained experience in designing voice-based user experiences, organizing medical data effectively, integrating multiple health monitoring features, and building solutions that serve both patients and healthcare professionals.
What's next for SANJIVNI
Our future roadmap includes: Supporting telemedicine with video consultations between doctors and patients. Enabling emergency SOS alerts with live location sharing to caregivers and hospitals. Expanding support to more regional Indian languages and dialects. Providing detailed health analytics and predictive insights to doctors for improved patient care.
