Inspiration

I recently needed a surgical procedure and it was so difficult to budget my expenses because hospitals don't show pricing for their procedures. Recently, there is an Executive Order on price transparency for medical services and prescription drugs that will ensure Americans know how much healthcare will cost in advance and will allow fully informed and value-conscious decisions. Moreover, we also found out that only 14% of hospitals are compliant with such directive so there is a lot of potential

What it does

This is where Sanitas comes in. Sanitas enables transparent pricing for medical services and prescription drugs

How we built it

We used React for Front End, NodeJS, ExpressJS, MongoDB, and Firebase

Challenges we ran into

Creating the conversational bot was challenging and we also had to synchronize our meetings because we have different responsibilities.

Created a Live MVP

What we learned

We learned about the complexity of the healthcare system including the different payers, the insurance and even the physician payment.

From a technical standpoint, we strengthened our understanding with React and in creating a Conversational Bot

Soft skills: We also leaned to work in a fast paced environment like this Hackathon which is onl 3 days. We also learned to trust each other's expertise.

What's next for SANITAS

We want to continue with the project and make the conversational bot much better by an AI algorithm.
We want to connect with the Hospital API for the correct pricing including the Insurance
