Inspiration
Divine intervention. No joke. It just came to my head instantly. Seriously. This is not how my brain works work. I usually spend 18 hours at 24 hour hackathons just trying to find one idea.
What it does
Pours color-changing beautiful sand using physical tilt controls via an MPU and CV to track the left and right movement.
How I built it
I used C++ with SDL3 for the main app, as well as OpenCV and AprilTag to track the left and right movement using my phones camera, and an MPU6050 with a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W sending the data.
Challenges I ran into
My main challenge was the 4 day time limit because I joined the hackathon very late and wasting 2 of the days trying to make the cup actually contain sand and failing because of hitboxes, only to realise the cup didn't need to actually contain sand and could just dynamically spawn it instead.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that I managed to finish the Project and got the CV working.
What I learned
I learned a lot about Computer vision and MPU tilt tracking, as well as C++ the language!
What's next for SandScene
Mostly polishing and adding features then publishing to app store.
