Inspiration:

The world is very cluttered with all the data we have, and most data collected is numerical. Our tracker helps manage this data by allowing people to easily navigate through the app and do everything from jotting down their mood of the day to keeping track of how well they slept. Mental Health is just as important as Physical Health.

What does it do?

Using a specific login for each user, we can track data over the course of a week and graph their inputs in a visually appealing way. The user simply has to log their feelings and some data of how the day went in 8 simple loggers.

How did we build it?

We used react native to develop an app specific for an iPhone 13 max pro, after designing the layout through Figma.

Challenges?

One of the most challenging parts in the competition was time, and being virtual, we had to accommodate the meeting times and assign different roles for each other. While coding our app, we used vscode to open and run the app on an emulator, and as we had only one emulator for most of our time, it was really difficult to make individual progress. While coding, the most time consuming problem was switching between pages, which we were only able to figure out towards the end.

Accomplishment:

Our best accomplishment lies in our design, taking the theme of an ocean (and whales) to give a relaxing feeling as you navigate through our app. We created a functioning app that we can proudly submit to the judges.

What we learned?

All our team members had different areas in which they improved and learned about. One thing we did learn was time management and that functioning apps are hard to make.

What’s next for SAND Tracker?

We had many different things that we planned out, but were not able to implement. Initially we thought of creating a way to export the user’s data of the week and be able to submit it to a doctor or therapist, so they could see how the user is doing. In the near future, we hope to implement data for things such as graphs.
