Inspiration

Sanctuary Refugee Health Centre (https://sanctuaryrefugee.ca/) is the non-profit, primary family medical care provider for thousands of refugee is Waterloo Region. They overcome the challenges faced by newcomers who may have limited English language skills and don't know how to navigate the Canadian medical system.

An ongoing challenge is getting patients to important appointments, particularly with medical specialists with long wait times. While all patients have phones, many do not answer voice calls and struggle to understand messages in English.

What it does

Sanctuary can use this app to send text messages in patients' native language, with clear directions, reminders and confirmations.
