🌎 About the Project: Sanções e Falhas (Sanctions and Failures)

💡 Inspiration

The initial inspiration stemmed from the overwhelming sense of global instability observed throughout 2024/2025. We were captivated by the dramatic irony of the world's most powerful nations engaging in complex, yet visibly fragile, geopolitical maneuvers. The concept crystallized around the idea that the seemingly robust foundations of finance and diplomacy, from a Wall Street circuit break to international trade tariffs are fundamentally volatile. We wanted to create an artifact that captured the tension between sanctioned power and market failures.

🎧 What it does

"Sanções e Falhas" is a soundscape critique presented as a spoken word piece, blending poetic narrative with a dramatic sonic backdrop. It serves as an independent commentary that:

Analyzes Geopolitical Fault Lines: It dissects current events like the trade war maneuvers between the US (Trump tariffs) and China, the invasion of Ukraine, and the ensuing struggle for global hegemony.

Challenges Financial Hegemony: It uses powerful imagery to address the instability of the dollar and the shift towards new financial centers and decentralized concepts, asking: "Who holds the throne in this transition?"

Encourages Critical Listening: By framing serious global issues in a poetic, often urgent, manner, it compels listeners to engage critically with the noise of daily news.

🛠️ How we built it

This project was the culmination of a maker experiment in media production, integrating multiple generative AIs and digital tools to create an artifact of social critique. The construction process followed a precise pipeline workflow:

Writing and Concept: The lyrics and narrative were conceived by AI agent custom-built specifically to lyrical and critical format.

Audio Production: The backing soundscape was initially generated using Suno, which established the rhythmic foundation. The voice was created and customized using Eleven Labs, ensuring the authoritative and cold tone required for the critique.

Visuals: The character "Helen Ailith" was developed as a specific LoRa character for the project. The conceptual images were generated using Flux, while the final video (the character's performance) was animated using Kling.

Final Editing: The assembly, audio/video synchronization, and effects application were carried out in CapCut, serving as the "workbench" tool to finalize the media package.

🚧 Challenges we ran into

The primary challenge was synthesizing complex geopolitical data into concise, impactful poetic verse while maintaining critical accuracy, compounded by the multi-platform workflow.

AI Orchestration: Managing the output consistency across six different generative AI platforms (Suno, Eleven Labs, Flux, Kling, the custom agent, and LoRa) was complex, requiring constant fine-tuning to ensure a unified aesthetic vision.

Narrative Flow: Ensuring a coherent transition between topics as diverse as Wall Street failures, Chinese tariffs, and the war in Ukraine proved difficult without sounding disjointed.

Aesthetic Cohesion: We struggled to perfectly align the visual style generated by Flux/Kling with the dramatic mood established by the Suno/Eleven Labs audio track. Lipsync was very limited too.

✨ Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are most proud of the project's cohesive power and thematic resonance despite its technical complexity.

Multimodal Integration: We successfully executed a technical AI-driven media pipeline, proving that complex, critical art can emerge from a distributed maker workflow.

Thematic Clarity: We successfully encapsulated the current state of global geopolitical anxiety into a compact format in our language (Portuguese-Brasil)

The Bridge Section: We were particularly pleased with the transition where the focus shifts from military conflict to the financial warfare ("A guerra não é só com míssil ou fuzil / É quem imite quem dita o perfil" - The war is not just with missile or rifle / It's who emits, who dictates the profile).

🧠 What we learned

We learned the profound power of sonic and visual storytelling to simplify and amplify abstract concepts like global finance and hegemony. Crucially, we understood that the maker workflow with generative AI is less about pure generation and more about tuning (Sintonia) and orchestrating disparate technologies into a singular style and voice, and it's pretty hard.

🚀 What's next for Sanções e Falhas

"Sanções e Falhas" is the first movement, we working on a album cabaret style mixing dark humor and music also in portuguese for Helen Ailith. We feel that humor can be more accepted when we have so much of uncanny valley.

We plan to expand this experience, allowing users to explore some political contexts in a fun and musical style
