Inspiration Our major inspiration was our love for games and game development followed by the food provided to us at the hackathon event
What it does It is a very basic 2d platformer with an attempt to implement hand drawn graphics to give it a unique feel. You move your character from platform to platform trying to reach the finish line
How we built it We built it using Godot as our main platform, doing code in Godot. Making hand drawn sprites and setting up spritesheets and animations with Piskel an online spritesheet editor
Challenges we ran into We originally planned to work on this project with unity which we are more familiar with, but after around 3hrs of struggle with lag and bugs that came up during git commits we gave up on Unity and moved to a simpler easier to use platform and tried Godot out for the first time. It took sometime to crop and set up our images nicely, but we tried our best
Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud of the game working as implemented, we really wish we had more time to implement more features and levels because we did have a bunch of ideas. Hopefully we get around to it later. We accomplished basic understanding of level creation, spritesheet making, and understanding the overall layout of Godot.
What we learned We learned to never give up, and for simpler projects opt for simpler software environment What's next for Samosa Hopper A grappling hook.
