Inspiration

In Nigeria, passport applications get delayed when the name on a person's NIN doesn't match the name on their passport form. The same thing happens with visas, school admissions and job checks around the world. Most people only find out after they've paid and waited. The only way to check today is to open every scan and compare by eye, or upload all your IDs to a cloud chatbot.

What it does

You point SameName at one folder of ID scans and certificates on your UGREEN AI NAS and pick a reference document, usually your passport. SameName reads the same fields from every document (surname, first name, middle names, date of birth, place of birth, gender) and shows a table, one row per document. Every cell is labelled MATCH, DIFFERENT, MISSING, UNREADABLE or SAME NAME DIFFERENT ORDER, with the file it came from. It also names the odd one out: the document that disagrees with the rest.

It never edits, moves or deletes your files. Saving the report and tagging files both need your approval. ID numbers are masked.

How we built it

SameName is a Markdown-only Uliya Skill built with the UGREEN Uliya Skill Kit. It delegates to the NAS expert agents: file-agent to list the folder, photo-agent vision-ocr to read scanned IDs, document-agent extract to read PDFs, and knowledge-agent to save the report after approval. The Skill compares the fields itself, one by one, so every result points back to its source file.

Challenges we ran into

The kit's own template didn't pass its own checker at first, so we followed the checker's rules for headings and capability format. A README inside the Skill folder also made the package fail the upload check, so that content moved into references/.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The Skill passes the kit checker with 0 errors and 0 warnings. A synthetic test set (7 documents for a made-up person, with 3 planted problems and 1 blurry scan) has an exact expected result: 0 false matches.

What we learned

A "match" you didn't actually read is worse than "unreadable". The Skill never guesses MATCH.

What's next for SameName

Run the Skill on a real UGREEN AI NAS with the synthetic test set, then add translation for non-English certificates.
