Inspiration

I was inspired to create SAM because its such a big issue in todays world. The fact remains that over 3 million teens have faced depressing thoughts in their lifetime, and if you don't have anyone to talk to, the next best thing is the internet, which is why I made SAM, a safe haven for you!

What it does

It has a chatbot, your "wellness wingman". You can talk to it, ask it questions, and have a full blown discussion, while everything is logged! It also has the Zen Den, a meditation page where you can motivate yourself to try as little as 10 minutes of guided mediation.

SELF CARE, Not Enough Time To Finish - Planned to use Machine Learning , to create a model which lets you identify the users mood based on them attaching an image of their handwriting. SAM would then suggest different coping mechanisms based on the users mood.

How we built it

I used Python Flask for backend and html/css/js for front end. I used many libraries and the Open AI API.

Challenges we ran into

TIMER The timer on my self care website had a bug where if you clicked on it , then although it was already counting, the variables would add on anyway, resulting in a bugged out & inaccurate timer. I fixed this by implementing instance sin my javascript where it tracks what state the timer is in, and locks down the start button if its pressed again. CHAT BOT Had to add filters because Open AI API replies sometimes bugged out. EMBEDS Had trouble with iframes because you have to refer to a parent and theres specific parameters which youtube requiers (you cant use the normal URL).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud for finishing this in under 2 hours. I started late, however i put my 100% into it and made a finished product.

What we learned

I learned a lot about styling, and also using javascript. Additionally, I learned a lot about embed techniques. Additionally, I learned how important using the right method is - post vs get.

What's next for SAM - Stress, Anxiety, and Meditation MANAGER!

Finishing the Self Care part!
