Inspiration

Post-surgery recovery is a high-stakes double-bind: patients must manage complex, critical medication schedules while simultaneously fighting through a fog of confusing medical bills. We wanted to build a single tool that removes this cognitive burden, restoring a sense of control and peace of mind when patients are at their most vulnerable.

What it does

Our platform serves as a dual-purpose recovery navigator. It empowers patients by combining intelligent medication reminders—calibrated for real-world patient variability—with a legal advocacy engine. This engine guides users through virtual medical law and "Know Your Rights" frameworks, specifically identifying loopholes in Quebec to ensure patients are not overcharged during their recovery.

How we built it

In a very short time span, we conducted intensive interviews with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and patient advocates. We mapped out how fragmented post-op care truly is and translated those insights into a prototype. By focusing on simple data architecture and user trust, we built a system that bridges the gap between clinical care and financial advocacy.

Challenges we ran into

Variable Scheduling: Integrating accurate medication timing that accounts for real-world fluctuations, such as missed doses or adjusted sleep cycles.

Translating Legalese: Simplifying complex legal concepts (like surprise billing protections and regional loopholes) into actionable steps without losing necessary legal nuance.

Supportive Design: Building a clean UI that feels like a supportive companion rather than a sterile, clinical instrument.

Accomplishments that we're proud of The Financial Shield: Successfully building a module that helps patients leverage "Know Your Rights" checklists and virtual medical law to challenge billing errors.

Bridging the Care Gap: Synthesizing pharmacology and financial advocacy into a unified experience that addresses the "whole person."

Expert-Validated Logic: Transforming fragmented feedback from medical professionals into a cohesive tool that reflects the actual post-op workflow.

Empowerment Through Simplicity: Designing a high-fidelity prototype that replaces recovery-induced anxiety with clear, automated guidance.
