Inspiration:

My fiance is always asking me when the last time my dog Atom went and poop. So when we both were sitting down on another Saturday at home, I asked her what kind of app could we build with bolt.new that would be fun and funny

What it does:

This app essentially allows the user to track their dogs poop by logging their dog's poop in real time with location, time, and even earn streaks to stay tracking logs!

How we built it:

I only decided to try because I was able to just talk to Bolt.new and have it do the heavy lifting. The ideas were there I just needed a smart ai to hold my hand along the way.

Challenges we ran into:

A whole lot of errors. At first I built it for web app with firebase and then I decided to build it for react native and supabase. I ended up using bolt.new to build a web based app with supabase. I wanted to quit so many times. I still am sort of scared to add anything crazy since I'm not too sure how to fork my projects without losing all of my information. Theres gotta be a Save point like in Final Fantasy 7 right?

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

Building out the ease of the user interface. I didn't want it overly complicated, we are literally logging dog poops. I was really excited about the "quick log" feature as well as learning about the toaster pop up whenever we logged a poop.

What we learned:

Building apps with conversation can really get your creativity flowing. I really was and am still nervous around building apps or websites. I know there is more to it than what I experienced so I cant even begin to understand what real Devs go through however having something like this for normal inexperienced people like myself can get my toes wet and tinker with has got me excited for all of the possibilities in this space.

What's next for Poop Log:

I think it would be really cool to be able to enable a feature for your babysitter or family to log poops for your dog while they are watching your pet. Imagine being on vacation and you get a notification that the neighbor or your aunt logged a poop with a photo and coordinates to the new favorite poop spot!
