Inspiration
The current job market is stressful, and we wanted to take a break from it, show our frustrations, and give it a laugh with our game.
What it does
Salem's Job Hunt makes fun of the current job market and how excessive and trivial it is to get a job in today's market. It aims to get a laugh and make fun of today's day and age.
How we built it
We built the game using Unity as our base and coded in C#. GitHub was used for version control. If not a stock image, all of the drawn art seen in the game was drawn by one of us.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a few bugs here and there, but by far the most challenging thing was coming up with a fun and interesting game loop that isn't too difficult. As expected near the end, there were numerous merge conflicts that deleted data here and there.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how we managed to create the game and bring it to life as close as it can be.
What we learned
We learned a variety of new problems to solve when it comes to game development coding. Dealing with Unity's Canvas UI features were especially difficult, but in time, we managed to overcome them.
What's next for Salem's Job Hunt
In the future, we hope to expand on Salem's Job Hunt and add more jobs, a shop to purchase upgrades, more books, and of course more interview questions and minigames!
