Inspiration
Visuals were inspired by the beauty and impermanence of cherry blossom petals falling from the trees. In terms of technology use, the source of information was this Spark AR Studio tutorial.
What it does
Designed to use with front camera in open space areas, this effect creates two streams of cherry blossom petals falling, as if pushed by wind. Bigger one acts as a background while the other subtly flows in front of the user.
How we built it
We made a simple texture for a cherry blossom petal. In Spark AR Studio, we created two particle systems. We set the background in world space and the foreground part in camera space. We used segmentation to hide the background behind the user.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest issue was finding the right idea - something simple enough for us to build, but nice to look at as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing this entry and creating a ready to use effect is a win for us.
What we learned
A big part was learning the interface and basic operations inside of Spark AR Studio. Fortunately, we found the tutorials that showed us the way to go.
What's next for Sakura
There are currently no plans for further development of this effect.
