Inspiration
This project marks the beginning of a long creative journey. Alien Abduction is the first full music video I’ve ever made — a piece that brings together everything I’ve learned over the past two years. The main inspirations clearly come from 80s and 90s anime — especially their aesthetics — but reimagined with a modern composition and emotional depth. There’s no need to name the classics we all know; the goal was to capture their essence: bold linework, desaturated tones, CRT-like noise, and that nostalgic feeling only old analog visuals can evoke. On the musical and visual side, I also drew inspiration from Anyma, whose ability to merge sound and emotion into immersive storytelling deeply influenced this project.
What it does
The main purpose of the track is to tell the story of losing someone you love — through the pulse and rhythm of psytrance. It follows the journey of two young souls, until one must find the light and the other must learn to let go. The story allows for many interpretations; I want each viewer to feel it in their own way. Ultimately, it’s about crafting a narrative with no dialogue — just pure audiovisual storytelling that pulls you in and makes you walk alongside them.
How we built it
Much of the project was built using Freepik and ComfyUI. The initial storyboard was developed in Freepik due to its speed and flexibility — it allowed me to quickly visualize the flow of the story. However, I soon realized it lacked the art direction I envisioned. That’s when I moved to ComfyUI, where the full visual identity came to life. After extensive research and testing, I found my path using the Illustrious XL checkpoint combined with various Loras and ControlNets to achieve the desired aesthetic. Once the start frames were completed, I returned to Freepik for animation — its workflow and creative possibilities are incredibly fast and intuitive. Finally, the project went through a long post-production phase in After Effects, adding the final visual polish and emotional texture needed to complete the piece.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was achieving the exact art direction I wanted. While the first storyboard looked interesting, it felt too modern — too clean. Reaching that authentic 80s/90s anime feeling required deep research, experimentation, and patience. Working locally was slow and demanding, until I discovered Think Diffusion, which gave the entire workflow new speed and consistency. Even with a refined and efficient process, transforming the start frames into full video sequences still required detailed post-production to fine-tune every movement and emotion.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I may not always be the most confident about what I create, but this project genuinely feels like a coherent story — one that captivates the viewer and invites them to wonder what will happen next. It leaves open questions and hidden meanings within every frame. The art direction feels beautiful — from the visual composition and color palette to the photography-inspired framing. On a technical level, achieving this result with AI tools would have taken exponentially longer and cost much more through traditional production methods.
What we learned
A lot — especially about creating workflows for illustration and anime production, particularly in old-school styles. I learned how to tell a story without dialogue, how to let the visuals carry the emotion, and how to edit a music video so that every frame resonates with the rhythm of the track. Timing, pacing, and emotional balance — these are things you only master by doing.
What's next for サイバー妖精 Saibā Yōsei - Alien Abduction
This is just the beginning. The long-term goal of Saibā Yōsei is to tell stories that all unfold within the same shared universe — a connected world where every narrative and character intertwine. In the future, I plan to expand this universe with lore, structure, and politics — maybe even transforming it into a manga or a dialogue-driven audiovisual story. The world of Saibā Yōsei has only just begun to awaken.
