Inspiration

In India, millions of micro-entrepreneurs and small sellers are the backbone of the economy, yet they face a massive disadvantage: Logistics Costs. While large corporations negotiate bulk rates, small sellers pay retail prices that eat up nearly 40% of their margins. We were inspired to build Sahyog Freight (Sahyog meaning "Collaboration") to democratize logistics through community power—allowing small sellers to ship like giants.

What it does

Sahyog Freight is a logistics optimization prototype that connects independent sellers to a shared supply chain.

Smart Routing: Compares standard courier rates against optimized "Group Shipments."

Consolidation Engine: Virtually bundles packages from different sellers heading to the same destination to unlock bulk LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) pricing.

Community Hubs: Utilizes local drop-off points ( Stores) to reduce the expensive "first-mile" pickup costs.

Live Tracking: Provides full transparency of the package as it moves through the consolidated pipeline.

How we built it

We developed a clean, responsive web interface using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

The Frontend was designed for speed and clarity, focusing on a "Savings First" dashboard.

The Logic Layer uses custom algorithms to simulate cost-switching between standard carriers and community hubs.

We used Flexbox and Grid to ensure the dashboard remains accessible for sellers who manage their business primarily via mobile devices.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest hurdles was designing a "Group Shipment" logic that felt intuitive. We had to figure out how to explain to a seller why their package might wait a few hours at a hub to save them 40% in costs. Balancing the trade-off between immediate dispatch and optimized savings required several UI iterations to ensure the value proposition was clear.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of the Savings Calculator module. It doesn't just show a price; it shows the "Efficiency Gain." Successfully demonstrating a path to a 40% reduction in delivery costs for a small business owner feels like a genuine solution to a real-world problem.

What we learned

Building this prototype taught us that logistics isn't just about moving boxes; it’s about data orchestration. We learned how to structure "Fake Data" to simulate a real-world network and the importance of "Trust UI"—using progress trackers and status badges to make a complex, consolidated shipping process feel safe and reliable for the user.

What's next for Sahyog Freight

The next step is to integrate a Real-Time Pincode API to calculate actual distances and dynamic pricing. We also plan to develop a "Seller-to-Seller" chat feature within the hubs to allow local communities to coordinate their own drop-offs, further reducing the carbon footprint and cost of the first-mile journey.
