Inspiration

The development of the rural population through self-help groups is one of the key factors in the overall growth of the country. In this day and age, it's essential to make the best use of the technology and promote digital literacy even in rural areas. The digitization of Self-help groups can help the rural populations have a formalized way of working which can benefit them. If anyone is in need of support, financial stability, or a community they can search for a self-help group and gain the same. This leads to the empowerment of the rural population which inspired us to make this idea a reality

What it does

Sahayata is a digital payment solution that intends to digitize the SHG payment operations with its unique disruptive offline payment solution. It believes there is a huge opportunity to digitize the transactions of cash-based operations of SHGs in India with its solution that is immune to challenges of mismanagement because of lack of proper maintanence of records and history. The implementation of sahataya can also help people connect to the SHGs in their as well as nearby areas also. This also brought transparency and traceability in the system by adding the authentication features as well.

How we built it

We used REACT JS for the front end and FAST API as the API framework where we used MONGO-DB as the database.

Challenges we ran into

The major challenge was to store and manage the enormous data we are expecting, we had to design a specific schema for managing the whole data. Another challenge was to provide security to the transactions, we used AWS-managed MongoDB to provide utmost security to the application.

We have figured out a unique way of integrating rural digitization with fintech!

What we learned

We learned that digitalization is really important nowadays where everything is being available with a click. The existence of SHGs is really important as it shapes the financial growth of women in rural areas, it helps them to be financially independent. The whole concept of digitizing SHGs is to integrate both digitization and finance which is majorly fintech.
