H-045-Sahalat
Inspiration
al-hajj is one of the longest and heaviest Islamic duty. It has many problems and gaps from the perspective of government, services' offices, the ministry of interior, and many other fields. These problems mainly are about control, safety, tracking, transportation, access allowance (either for housing, meals locations, and buses), and the communication of pilgrims.
What it does
It is a mobile application that is connected to an intelligent bracelet (The bracelet has a printed barcode, an embedded GPS chip, sensors). Two types of users exist with two different app interfaces. The app will give a type of connection and tracking between the stakeholders and the pilgrims. It is available through the main languages.
We will give different scenarios to explain what are the app functions: (Version 1 for the stakeholders) 1-The office workers will use the mobile app to scan the pilgrim's bracelet to give access to different locations (Meals, Housing, transportation). 2- Each office worker will be able to create a pilgrims group that the worker will be responsible for them. Using this group will facilitate the control of pilgrims, by tracking them and determining their location through the map. 3- The personal information of the pilgrims will be accessible by their office workers. A general status for each pilgrim will be displayed to give a general information about the pilgrim health (The bracelet's sensors will measure the blood pressure, heartbeat). 4- Currently the office workers are using a hardcopy map to take pilgrims to al-hajj location(EX: Arafat). The app will give the workers GPS directions to guide pilgrims and reach these locations easily. 5- Tracking the pilgrims' locations will help in detecting the crowd, which will add the feature of giving the workers the shortest and fastest paths while using the map.
(Version 2 for the pilgrims) 1-The pilgrims will have access to their office information (name, number, contacts, location, category, type). 2- al-hajj instructions will be given in the app, to give detailed instructions that they might need. 3- Location and contacts of the important field are given in the app (Ex: nearest hospital, nearest police office, and al-hajj locations). 4- Pilgrim health information is listed in the app, that might be needed in the emergency situations. 5- The pilgrim can create a group to add his own companions (Ex: Family, friends). This feature will allow him/her to detect their locations (Ex: in the case of losing one of his companions).
How we built it
- We can use native languages to create the android and the IOS versions, as the app is highly featured and it is better to use native languages for both platforms to be able to access all the device resources.
- Randomly barcode numbers will be printed for each bracelet with an embedded GPS chip that matches the bracelet barcode.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges were in detecting the main problems for different types of users and get a usable technical solution.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We proud of being participants in the Hackathon, and the most important is to help in such a holy duty as al-hajj.
What we learned
We learned how to find a technical solution that can target many main problems for different users.
What's next for Sahalat
The next is to implement it and serve our Islamic community.
