Sahaaya – Student Support System

Inspiration

Students today face more than just academic pressure—they deal with stress, self-doubt, and the fear of not being “good enough.” Many don’t have someone they can openly talk to or seek guidance from. The idea of Sahaaya was inspired by the need to create a safe, supportive space where students can feel heard, guided, and understood—not just judged by marks, but supported as individuals.

What it does

Sahaaya – Student Support System is an AI-powered platform designed to support students both emotionally and academically.

It provides: 🧠 AI chat support for guidance and emotional comfort 📚 Study help with simplified explanations 😌 Mood tracking to understand emotional patterns 🎯 Focus tools to improve productivity 🚨 Emergency support access when needed

It acts as a digital companion that helps students stay balanced, confident, and motivated.

How we built it

We built Sahaaya using a simple yet effective tech stack:

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript for a clean and responsive interface Backend: Firebase / Node.js for data handling and real-time features AI Integration: Basic chatbot logic / API for conversational support Design Tools: Canva / Figma for UI and branding

The focus was on creating a user-friendly and calming interface that students feel comfortable using daily.

Challenges we ran into

Designing an AI that feels supportive but not overwhelming Keeping the platform simple while including multiple useful features Making the UI emotionally appealing, not just functional Balancing between academic help and mental well-being support Ensuring the platform feels safe and non-judgmental

What's next for Sahaaya – Student Support System

Adding voice interaction for more natural communication Expanding to multiple languages (including Tamil) Introducing a teacher/parent dashboard for better support systems Improving AI responses for deeper personalization Launching as a mobile app for wider accessibility Partnering with schools to make it a real student support tool

Sahaaya is not just a project—it’s a step toward making students feel supported, understood, and valued beyond their marks.
